About the Author
David T. Hill is Professor of Southeast Asian Studies at Murdoch University, Western Australia, where he is a Fellow of the Asia Research Centre on Social, Political and Economic Change. His publications include The Press in New Order Indonesia (1994, 1995) and Media, Culture and Politics in Indonesia (2000, co-authored with Krishna Sen).
Krishna Sen is Professor of Asian Media, Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Australia. She has written extensively on the media in Indonesia. She is a member of the International Advisory Board of Murdoch University's Asia Research Centre, a Councillor of the Australian Asian Studies Association and editorial board member of several media studies journals.

Amitava Dasgupta is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and the director of clinical chemistry, toxicology, and point of care testing at the Memorial Hermann Hospital, the main teaching hospital of the medical school. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry and a prolific author and editor.

Catherine A. Hammett-Stabler is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is also the Director of the Core Laboratory of the McLendon Clinical Laboratories, UNC Health Care. Dr. Hammett-Stabler has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and books.

Not Kindle Friendly

I bought the book in the Kindle version, as I had specific herbs to research, and didn't want to wait to have the book shipped. The book looks very thorough, but I was worried when I read that the Kindle version of books published by Wiley might not have the full text of the print version. The sample that I downloaded seemed to have everything I needed, so I purchased the book. I was disappointed to find that there was no way to jump to the alphabetical index in the back, and when I went there by simply going to the back of the book, none of the words listed had page numbers behind them, and there was no link from the words listed, to the location of the information in the book. So I could find out that some of the herbs I wanted to research were listed, but I had no idea where in the book to read about them. I didn't have time to read book page by page. In the print copy there are 488 pages, which makes the Kindle copy thousands of pages. I returned the book for a refund. I am still interested in it, and may buy the print copy, but I found the information I needed immediately, in another location.

About the Author

Jude Cassidy, PhD, is Professor of Psychology at the University of Maryland and Director of the Maryland Child and Family Development Laboratory. Her research focuses on attachment, social and emotional development in children and adolescents, social information processing, peer relations, and early intervention. Dr. Cassidy serves as coeditor of the journal Attachment and Human Development. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Society, and received a Boyd R. McCandless Young Scientist Award from the American Psychological Association.�Phillip R. Shaver, PhD, is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Davis. He has published several books and over 200 journal articles and book chapters. Dr. Shaver's research focuses on attachment, human motivation and emotion, close relationships, personality development, and the effects of meditation on behavior and brain. He is a fellow of both the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science. He received a Distinguished Career Award from the International Association for Relationship Research and is currently President of that organization.

completely comprehensive book

Having read dozens and dozens or books related to attachment, I can say that I wish I had found this first. This is a comprehensive summary of nearly all the major applications and research related to attachment. It exposes the reader to numerous authors and researchers in the field, and each article has its own reference list, so finding the additional sources is painless. There is a little built in redundancy on certain aspects of the history of attachment theory, which is to be expected, but some of the research is just marvelous. I found myself ordering other books by some of the contributors, because these articles are so interesting. For any dissertation or clinical reports, this is a go-to source for attachment. The index is also incredible, and whoever compiled it should be proud.

I struggled with buying this book versus using the funds for a conference. I'm so glad I chose the book purchase. I have referred to it repeatedly when planning class lectures, while searching for the latest research for training curricula, or for enriching my knowledge of a theory or concept. It's large, unwieldy, expensive, and worth all the trouble!

I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the history and progress of attachment theory. The editors are experts in the field and have organized decades worth of literature in a comprehensible manner. The chapter authors were careful to include the pros and cons of certain approaches in addition to their thoughtful summaries. All in all, a great resource book!

Awesome lifechanging technique!

Dr. Callahan has other books in which he also outlines the technique given in this book. But, in this book, the technique is fully given and in more detail and easier to understand. With the info he gives you, anyone can do this with great results even just reading along out of the book as you go. If you are interested in this type of work, this book is a classic! It really does work and releases phobias immediately in just a 20 minute session. This technique changed the whole direction of my life by instantly removing phobias that were holding me back from what I needed to do. [...]

Much better than "Tapping the Healer Within"

I wish this book were back in print again. It is better than "Tapping the Healer Within", in that it is written in a much more clear and concise manner (although he does wander a bit and get repetitive at times). He discusses "fear of success" in some detail, and what he thinks it really consists of. There is a shortcut guide in the back for using the method, with pictures.

This is the same as "The Five-Minute Phobia Cure" with an extra chapter addressing Public Speaking and Cold-Calling specifically, and some minor re-working of some of the chapters.

"Five-Minute" also has the shortcut guide. The list of phobias in the book is interesting, and he suggests the same treatment for all of them.

Well worth borrowing from your local library, or getting through interlibrary loan, especially if you found "Tapping" difficult to wade through--I did. This book was much easier to understand. I do, however, think the used prices are 'way on the high side.

Some authors with later books just rehash the same (in this case good) concept over and over, without adding anything significant. This earlier book is better.

A Must-Have for Every Household!

I came across this book many, many years ago and began using the principals outlined by Dr. Callahan in my private practice as a Hypnotherapist and Counselor. I have personally "cured" men, women and children of fears of heights, water, bugs of all sorts, snakes, claustrophobia, fear of driving across bridges, gag reflex, fear of test taking, golf failure, fear of success and many more too numerous to mention in this review.
I just left a copy for my Brother-in-Law who is a dentist and am eager to see how it works for him with his patients that have gagging issues.
I have personally purchased and given away over 20 books to family and friends.

"There are many learning benefits to this textbook, viz. Key Concepts, Margin definitions, Fundamentals of Engineering problem section. However, the unique approach that Drs. Potter and Wiggert take to breakdown complex concepts of fluid mechanics and provide an easy to follow and succinate textbook is amazing. The authors have done an exceptional job in assembling a comprehensive textbook. One of the strongest attributes of this textbook is the addition of FE/EIT exam examples. The authors do not teach to the FE exam, but rather enhance their product with the addition of these examples. Without question, these two (Drs. Potter and Wiggert) are the exemplary instructors that every engineering college envisions. The highlights of "key concepts" and margin definition are a benefit for both student and instructor. This is a difficult topic from many lower-division engineering students. The presentation by the authors is the most comprehensive yet straightforward approach I have seen to date. Readability and presentation of complex concepts is a true strength of this textbook."

Texts in fluids mechanics have evolved over many years to do this and this text does a great job of this. Examples and their frequency/breadth of coverage is appropriate. The problem-solving methodology in the examples is done extremely well. Illustrations are very well done."

About the Author
Dr. Merle C. Potter holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Michigan Technological University, as well as an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering and a Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Michigan. Dr. Potter taught for 40 years, including 33 of years at Michigan State University where he taught thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and numerous other courses. Dr. Potter has authored and co-authored 35 textbooks, help books, and engineering exam review books. He has specialized in fluid flow stability and energy research. He has received numerous awards, including the Ford Faculty Scholarship, the Teacher-Scholar Award, the ASME Centennial Award, the MSU Mechanical Engineering Faculty Award, and the James Harry Potter Thermodynamics Gold Medal. Dr. Potter is a member of ASEE, ASME, and the American Academy of Mechanics.

Dr. David C. Wiggert earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan and serves as Professor Emeritus of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University. He was the recipient of the J.C. Stevens Award, ASCE, (1977), the L.F. Moody Award, ASME, (1983), and is a Fellow of ASME (1996). His research experience is in fluid transients and groundwater flows.

Dr. Bassem Ramadan serves as Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Kettering University. He earned his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in Mechanical Engineering and has expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics, combustion, fluid flow analysis and modeling, thermal systems design and modeling, energy conservation and analysis. He is a Fellow of ASME and was the recipient of an "Outstanding Teacher Award", "Distinguished Researcher Award", "Outstanding Applied Researcher Award", and "Outstanding New Researcher Award" from Kettering University. His research experience is in three-dimensional, transient, turbulent, reacting and non-reacting flows. Dr. Ramadan is a member of ASEE, ASME, ACS, and SAE.
